HISTORY OF NESTLES .
Mr Pinder, Mr Heron and Mr Turner were the managers of Nestles.
The wages outside were £9.00 for two weeks - Nestles paid £6.00 a week in 1952.
Shifts in the factory were from 6am to 2pm and from 2pm to 10pm. Nestles was an important source of employment in the local area.
ALEX CLARKE
Alex worked in the factory for 17 and a half years. Cocoa beans were imported from Trinidad and were brought by train to the factory. Butter was pressed out of cocoa mass and used to make chocolate with milk, sugar chocolate crumble add together to make chocolate liquid. Chocolate was made into bars and wrapped by girls and machines.
RAILWAY
The Great Northern Railway served Victoria Bridge.
The last train from Omagh to Strabane passed through Victoria Bridge on 14th February 1965.
Billy Anderson was the last man in charge of Victoria of Victoria bridge station.
Pasty Mc Garrigle served as signalman at Victoria Bridge for the last five years.
Victoria bridge had a railway before Belfast.
Railways were linked to industry.
Fours homes were constucted for people who fought the Boer war and who returned to the area. These houses were named "Ladysmith".
Victoria Bridge Station was unique because it was constructed from wood and was very pretty.
